On this sweltering first day of school, Back on campus, I see the heat in many ways. For it is not just the sun that burns bright here; The forming selves, the burning drive to become is equally as bright. I realize on days like this, that this is where I belong. To be around that drive, to achieve a dream, Is the place I want to be. For not only does it motivate me; The flame of others potential drives my hope; My desire to help inherit the Anthropocene. I also desire to become a fan, One that encourages the fire in others. For it is that heat that will save the world. As I melt outside, and as the heat only gets worse; What will drive me through the blood and sweat, Is that fiery youthful drive to overcome, to become. And become we will, those who belong to the Anthropocene.
