The Airplane

Written Approx.: December 2019, well on an airplane.

The Airplane, a flying metal container of life
Capable of powers, only given to the birds by nature:
The ability to thrust into the sky, slice through it like a knife,
To soar high, travel great distances across the globe, to venture

But this vehicle is not one of only such capabilities,
It is so much more then a cylindrical shape with wings
And engines, and crew, and computers, it has no futility.
It is a device used to unite the very creatures who created such a thing:

It unites us across land and sea
Bringing people together, whom they may have never seen.
Allows us to explore, and travel to new places to see,
Gives people the ability to escape their circumstance, to flee.

But it unites us in a different way then such,
All aboard, sharing a common mission,
But unbeknownst to those aboard, all out of touch:
It unites for a temporal fragment of time, regardless of their superstition.

United by a path, a new destination in existence,
Willing to endure the trials and tribulations, no matter how long,
And sharing a trait we all have, expressed in this instance:
To explore, to be desired; and to fly, to where ever we belong.
